Who steers this ship?
Every ship needs a captain and the good ship QK Consultancy is aptly steered by Tony Harrison.
To give you a better sense of the direction of the ship here are 8 things you may not know about him
Belief in Entrepreneurship
“The world is changing. We are seeing a strong shift from the standard employment positions to more and more people opting to run their own small businesses. With the growth of the internet and more mobile devices, our entire way of working is changing. More people recognise the independence that entrepreneurship brings. Soon jobs as we know them will not be so abundantly available; we’ve seen the entry of zero contracted hours which takes away the certainty of a pay check every month. Entrepreneurship may well soon become the new J.O.B.”
A love for music.
“I really do love it. It’s almost like melody and rhythm flows through my veins. I have no specific genre preference when it comes to music, but that said I can be found in Jazz bars, concerts and festivals. One of my highlight concerts was Prince live at the North Sea Jazz festival.”
A love of training
“My love for training others I believe comes from desire to see individuals becoming the best version of themselves. We should always be open to learning something new every day, creating the habit of asking ourselves before we go to sleep every night, What did I learn new today? You will be amazed at how much information we can retain if we remain open to being trained.
Every day I try to do my little part towards increasing the learning of others.”
Confusion with food
“So I love food.
Over the years I’ve been pretty adventurous with it and have eaten the more exotic meats such as alligator and snake meat to the more refined tastes of oysters and mussels but I am never happier than when I am starting my day with a cheese and onion omelette with baked beans and 2 slices of granary bread.
My local café makes a fortune out of me.”
A passion for travel
“When I eventually retire my ambition is to travel constantly. So far I’ve not done too badly; notable visits include South Korea, Hawaii, Thailand, Cape Verde and Las Vegas. Meeting people whose cultures are different to my own intrigues me. So much can be learnt in those exchanges.”
A love for animals
“I was raised with cats and dogs. It’s now in my older years that I find myself without any pets. I guess it’s because with the work I do I tend not to be home at any specific time and that wouldn’t be good for them. My dream holiday is an authentic African Safari where I can really get to experience the animal kingdom in its purest form.”
A dislike for Technology…
“Well, if I’m honest technology doesn’t seem to like me. My computer will regularly freeze; my phone has its own mind and performs functions I do not request! Apparently I have really high electricity field reading that affects electronic gadgets, especially mobile ones. . Maybe I’m a superhero? Mr Electric anybody??”
Why young people mean so much
“Quite simply, children are our future. If we do not prepare them well then what real chance does society have of excellence?
Generation X, Y and Z have a unique way of seeing the world; being a baby boomer myself, my perspective is so different but I have always believed in inter-generational relationships, and as such I want to share my experiences with them. I love learning from them also, it keeps me alert and in touch with the ever changing world that we all live in.”
